実は、1年間に生産される服は、コットンTシャツを1枚作るのに、2720リットルの水を使用。温室効果ガスで言うと、年間約21億トン。アパレル・ファッション業界がかける環境負荷は、エネルギー産業〜農業に次いで、第3位だったという事実をどれぐらいの人たちが知っているのでしょうか。そして、世界中で年間生産される新品の服の約87%は焼却されたり、南米・チリに埋め立て処分されたり。服への執着心や概念は”ポイ捨て感覚”で良いのでしょうか。
これからの未来はDNAを変えて「タンパク質」で服の素材が作れる時代。服が好きだからこそ、カッコ良い素材で、カッコ良い生き方をしたい。
